There are many types of love. The purest of those loves is parent-child. The parent-child form of love is nurturing, compassionate, caring, and unconditional. This is a different form of love than any other, because it is a non-romantic form of love. It is the bonding between mother and baby in the womb. It is the bonding between father and baby at first sight after the baby is born. It is the bonding that occurs between children and their parents at an early age as the milestones are being witnessed. The parent-child love is prideful when the baby speaks his/her first word, crawls, learns to sit, and walks for the first time. This parent-child love continues for the rest of the child's life, including adulthood.

The next form of love is friendship. Friendship, of course, is more conditional in practice than any other type of love. The ideal friendship is full of trust, honesty, reliability, compassion, and common likes and dislikes. At first, one would not recognize friendship as love until the relationship grows into longevity. The friendship type of love is shown at times such as being proud of each other's accomplishments and being sad together during times of hardship and loss.

True Love in the romantic setting is the most difficult form of love to attain. We can have romance and dates with many people before we find the one we finally feel a soul connection with, but it does happen forever once that perfect love is found. This is the type of love where two people fall for each other in heart, mind, body and soul. True romantic love can start out conditional, but after marriage often becomes unconditional. The way to measure this love would be how the other person makes you feel, and how you make the other person feel. Are you feeling trust, passion, the need to be together forever? Or are you experiencing only lust and possessiveness? Do you genuinely care for each other? Do you feel that you always want to strive for your best to please this other person? Do you want always what's best for him/her? The best way I can sum up the soul-mate type of romantic love is that you and he/she would do just about anything reasonable to be together and to stay together, for this type of love flows the
deepest.
